Thanks for confirming this jill. I only support the band, not the crooks behind a label. I wont be purchasing it.

Hi Kildacious, welcome to the Forum. I read the link as well, (and know what it "Implies"), but read Jill's first line above. "This box set is NOT a Y&T sanctioned product". Universal just did it for themselves. I know we all get excited about new Y & T products but if you are a stickler about only Y&T getting the money, (and a lot of you are),......then wait for the 40th Anniversary "Goodies". Lauretta

So, sadly, my suspicions were correct. I've got all the albums anyway, but if I hadn't then Jill's post would've made my mind up for me. I wouldn't be buying this set.

As for the 40th anniversary, can't wait to see what's gonna be in store (literally!)

As the band's manager, I can tell you that this is NOT an official band release. That article's headline is severely misleading, as Y&T haven't confirm anything with anyone. You don't see any quotes from Dave in that article because he wasn't even aware of this Universal Music Group release until just recently. It's UMG so it's all legit, but without Y&T's knowledge or consent.

By the way, this is not the project that Dave has alluded to in recent interviews.

Thanks for putting that straight Jill, I saw it on the Y&T Dutch Fan page a couple of weeks back and thought it wasn't through Y&T.

Meanwhile Y&T heaven beckons in the Netherlands this weekend....But why is it always Gale Force 8 or 9 when I go on a ship? Never mind, I could do with losing a stone in weight through sea sickness...

This box set reeks of being poorly put together. Right from the errors on the press release (i.e. 'Out For The Count'). There are no B sides. Not even the live version of Summertime Girls or Black Tiger from the Open Fire recordings. Or 'Go For The Throat' studio version. The cover of this thing omits Open Fire as an included product but includes 'Live On The Friday Rock Show' instead of just saying Live recordings from Reading '82 and Donnington '84.

This is why I buy all my Y & T stuff from this site only, unless I have to replace an old copy of 'Ten' or 'Contagious', or what have you.

To hell with A & M or whoever else is behind this milking job. They're not getting a dime from me...

Here is what sucks about this: Universal owns the rights to Y&T related things from the '80's and early '90's, ("Live at the SF Civic?" is the first that comes to mind....) but they put out sub-par repackages of stuff the fans already have, and/or don't want. Then, when these items don't sell, they say "See, this band doesn't sell," and makes it less likely they will release the stuff we REALLY want them to put out.

    Very frustrating.
