Default hey guitarists need some information

with the 2010 namm show and going to various guitar center or musical instruments stores, what is a good rythmn guitar to play?with the les pauls, stratocasters, prs's or epiphone specials what would you choose?

and then if you play lead what are your choices?

there have been many new guitars since the 50's what ones do you prefer?

First you've got to figure out if your a Gibson or Fender kind of guy.
Try the Gibson Les Paul, SG and V. See if you like em.
Try the Fender Strat and Telecaster.

Personally, I'm a Les Paul guy, but I play the Strat as well.

In short- try em out, and you will find a guitar who suits you.
    Home sweet home.......

What is a good rhythm guitar to play?

I think a lot depends on what material the instrument is going to be used for.

It's not always about how the instrument feels but what it does - or doesn't do.

They're all like different brushes in the painter's box. Some are more or less versatile or get used more or less often.

It really depends on what you plan to do with it.

i just pick up the guitar and play cords no lead.i see people that do that have like telecasters but john plays his blue les paul and i guess that would be my choice as i have one.i wanted to hear from some good guitarists with experience, there usually is a outstanding guitar for rythmn and one for lead, terry lauderdale always has some different guitars
,he is a great shredder and that is what he prefers to do, i have seen him with a kramer, les paul,or some solid hard body guitar?
easy song cords like those for creedence, house of the rising sun(don't laugh),beatles.......etc

i guess, yourself, has to answer the question, the way it feels and how it plays.

I basically agree with perry and craig, although you could try a nice semi hollowbody too that would work well with the music you are talking about plus you can play them unplugged as well as plugged in which really helps(at least for me) when practicing at home, i have a epiphone sheraton that sounds great especially on rythem or clean leads

I use a Jackson RR-3 Rhodes for when I'm jamming with my metal buddies, a Les Paul Custom with my blues buddies, and my trusty Telecaster when we go "down-home" country boogie... What ever feels and sounds right to you at the time I guess.
