I've got pretty decent Tama pedals but I've always wanted Iron Cobras...so I'm finally upgrading to them!!! 2 single bass pedals & high hat too!!!

Watching Simon Phillip's Instructional DVD at the mo. Brilliant!!!
Very inspiring. I'm goin' after a piccolo snare now too...a Ludwig Black Beauty!
Simon plays TAMA Double Bass kits too!!

I've got a Virgil Donati Instructional DVD to watch tomorrow!

Gettin' ready for the Drum Battle with Earl in one month--at the Forum Jam!!

May add s'more stuff too for the occassion!
    Maybe even a BIG GONG!

This thread was buried 8 pages back so even tho I've been slackin' as a drummer & puttin' most of my musical energy into playin' bass & singing I thot I'd bump this up to see what all the drummers here have to say.

What's happening with DRUMS in YOUR life right now?

It would be cool if all the drummers here would respond to this & get this thread charged up again. Tell us what you're doing even if you're slackin' like me.

Since Mitch Mitchell checked out I've become more interested than ever in studying his style & trying to figure out what made him so good & so right for Jimi's style. Been playin' all their great songs & jams a lot lately & just listening real attentively to Mitch...now I've gotta go thru the whole catalog & play along....as I've done for decades....

This time last year Earl & I were gettin' ready for the Drum Battle which pushed us both to practice more than usual which was good. I hope Earl is playing drums more seriously & consistently now...he sure is good! The Drum Battle also seemed to push Mike Vanderhule to do a Drum Solo with Y&T after watchin' us & congratulating us both afterwards at the Forum Jam. One reason I challenged Earl was to generate interest in a Forum Jam, which hadn't happened for a year or 2. It worked!
It was a good positive way to duel instead of fighting here with keyboards typing with anger or dueling with swords or guns.
Sadly, some people didn't like the Drum Battle & decided it shouldn't happen this year.
Interesting to note that there's no Forum Jam happening this year.
Maybe it all depends on Babe Magnet aka King Dave II & the other EARTHSHAKER guys.
Maybe next year we'll think of something else to generate interest.
Gotta give Janine credit for her Island Theme party! That almost got me to drive up from L.A. this year....
That & the fact that it's gonna be another kickass Mystic Weekend this weekend!!

    Anyway....
Cool that Vanderhule plays Drum Solos at every show now!
Glad if I had anything to do with it.
Hey Mike~ How 'bout posting on this thread?
Leonard already did. I'd like to see him post here s'more too!!
Jimmy D. would certainly be welcome tooo

    Default Home Studio

Well, lemme tell ya.11 years in a mobile home just ain't for us drummers! Not having a place to practice or set up the kit for cleaning,fiddling,ect...Most of the time my drums were in my folks basement 14 miles away!So I took action. I've built me a drum shed/studio/mancave! 12'x16',with small attic for kit storage. It has my practice kit (Pearl rythym traveler) My vintage Simmons kit, both Ludwig kits as well as misc drum stuff.( How is it drummers collect so much stuff!?)
I've got PA, lights, beer cooler, wireless internet,TV/VCR for watching vintage Y&T and Van Halen shows.Everything a boy could want!I also have my Y&T posters, autographed stuff (eBay finds) and about 100+ 80's metal magazines!
This will give me a place where I can jam everyday,or anytime with the Simmons kit! Check it out om my myspace:

    Well....you've just inspired me some.
Very nice what you have. I bet you'll make good use of it.
    I've got to do something.
I've got a garage to convert but I've been putting it off.
The usable area is about the same I believe, 12X16 but it's gonna have to hold more stuff and there's no upper area. It's a flat roof - no attic.
A hammond organ, Various amps and cabs and a drum kit. Basically a band practice room. Kinda small for that.Sound proofing is gonna cost some dough.
    It's within a few feet of a neighbor's house.
    Anyway, congrats on that project.
    Very nice!!!!
    Jim.

Pretty coool, Chipper! I had a 10 x 10 storage space for awhile back in the mid-90s with 24 hour access & built a loft over my kit to sleep there. That was a good practice space cuz it was far from any houses or apts.

Tried to send a friend request from my band TigerShark & you don't accept adds from bands. WTF?
That's my pet peeve on myspace.

Anyway...Glad you're still around & Rockin' the Drums!!!
