    Wink Iphone Music Apps.

    The "infamous Ocarina" app.

I figure it's probably time to start a separate thread just for the little phone and the music apps you can get for it.
If someone finds an app interesting, useful or just funny it'd be nice to see it here. Not sure if others are interested but some of us are.
    Me! lol.

I was going to post a separate thread for another app I came across, (which I'll post here soon), when it dawned on me that I'd already posted at least three or four other app threads and realized how much I'm starting to use the little phone as more than a toy for music. Not just jotting down ideas but actually making it on the device.
In fact, some of the coolest things going on in music gear-land just may be the little apps and peripherals for the phone and pad?

Again, if anyone comes across an app you'd like to share.....could you post it.? Maybe I'm alone in this or have too much time on my hands. lol.

    Cheers.

Talking Voice Band. Wierd! Strange! Funny?. Video.

This is the iphone app that inspired me to start a new place on the forum just for music phone apps.
    "Voice Band".
Make music going bah-bah-bah-bah-bah....bah-bah-bah into the microphone. Drums, guitars etc. Looks like I missed a "bah" there.

Try to watch the following video through to end.......if you can. I burst my gut first time watching it.
In all honesty, looks kinda fun. Sure hope no one does any Y&T covers with it though. Somehow that just seems wrong. lol.

I've got a real ocarina somewhere in storage...

The FUN apps are cool but I'm really impressed with the work apps like sketching music ideas.

Yeah, agreed about the music sketching bit. I felt like that too for some time but here's the thing - the thing that's maybe changed?.....
It's kind of like how what you write is different depending on the sketching tools. You know, what you write on kybds is usually different than on guitar etc. No new news there but......then comes along some little doo-dad you go "bah-bah-bah into, (see my voice band post), ....and what you come up with as a result just might be different yet again, hahaha. You get the point.
The little phone/ipods really can do more I think. Way more than just lyrics etc. If only they recorded at higher bit rate you might just see folks start recording albums with them?? Maybe it's been done and I just don't know.

Oh yeah, I bought the little two dollar voice band app for fun. Plus, the video of the guy going bah-bah-bah had my kids in stitches. That's worth something. Ain't know way in hell I'm posting my results from it here though, hahahah.

    Cheers.

    Thumbs up iGog! Video clip.

I haven't posted any tech stuff for a long time so here's a good one imo.

    iGog drum app.

About iGog. It comes from the makers of Drumagog - one of the studio standards for drum replacement or enhancement.

There are tons of drum apps already out there but these guys have velocity mapping that's first rate imo. Hitting the tiny pads in different places hard or soft gives a similar response to the big boys plug-ins and fancier digital drum kits. In fact,.... think I like hitting the hard, glass screen better! Reminds me of tapping my way through school desktops, lol. Just hope I don't crack it.

The app is fully customizable. Pads can be added/subtracted. Renamed. Files can be exported to PC as wave and or midi through ftp. Wave or tiff files can be "imported" as well. That alone make the little app very powerful. Yes, I imported a cowbell. Can't believe they didn't have one of those! lol. Additional kits are also available through online purchase for a measly .99cents each and they're not half bad. In fact, the whole app with several free kits is only four bucks. A real bargain if you ask me. My only gripe is that I wish this phone app and others would play ball with each other more easily. No doubt apple is behind the problem like always.

Here's a video I put together quickly comparing the app to a real cymbal and snare using a tiny netbook with very poor webcam. Sorry. Frame rate really dropped without bright daylight in room. Tried my best. I've lost my camera since our move or I'd have done this first rate. Had to reach around pc to play the phone because of camera in laptop lid. Had trouble reaching.

Here's another one on youtube from the company itself.

Let me know if interested in some more of these. I've got a good size list.

Default Short clip of tune using iGog drum app.

Here's a short clip of a tune with iGog drum app on iphone.
Normally I'd go back and maybe move a few bad hits around etc. This is being played straight however on iphone app into preamp, then into pc. No splitting of hits or quantization. No click track. Played straight through. As a result, this thing don't sound like no robot drum machine! And you know that because you can actually hear the sloppy playing. LOL.
Once again - I love this stuff!

PS; would've posted whole song file but broke string on second guitar about 3/4 of the way through, hahaha.

EDIT; here's a different final mix of above song clip with second guitar track intact. Keep in mind listening that you're hearing a cell app playing drum tracks.

If anyone has any more apps you think worth mentioning please do. We're always keeping an eye open for new ones.
