I had the pleasure of attending the
Scorpions , Whitesnake , & Dokken show the other night in San Jose . Here is my review of the show .

Dokken was the opening band , they were just
    "Horrible" !!
Don's voice is "Gone", his stage presence was bad. He seemed like, he didn't give a
damn up there on stage .
Their new bass player looks like C.C. DeVille
    from Poison .
The background vocals were terrible !!!
I think its about time that Don Dokken quits
    performing & putting out cd's .
He should just produce in the recording studio.

Whitesnake was the support band , & they were "Awesome", "Incredible" !!!
Coverdale has not lost a step at all !!
Coverdale had the crowd going with his great stage presence, & personality.
Whitesnake lead guitarist Doug Aldrich was just simply "incredible" !!
    He was Shredding , & i mean Shredding !!
    (Adrian who ? , Vivian who ?)
Whitesnake drummer Tommy Aldridge was simply
"Amazing" !! Tommy sures know how to POUND
    those drums !!!
Again, simply an AWESOME performance by
    Whitesnake !!!

Scorpions the headlining band, were good BUT,
it looked like to me that their age is starting to show now .
The energy was not their , like it was this past summer when i saw them in Reno ,& Concord !!
They have been out on the road touring
(basically non stop ) since June 1st of 2002.
Don't get me wrong, the Scorpions were good
they put on a good show but , the energy was just not there like it was earlier on their
    2002-2003 tour .
My suggestion is , after the Scorpions tour is completed , they should just take a year off , put out a new cd w/ new material early next year & not tour until maybe late summer of 2004.
They need a well deserved rest.
Remember, these guys are in their 50's,& they're still doing all of this touring !!
    INCREDIBLE !!

Yeah, I agree, I WISH Coverdale could be "flanked" w/ some of his 80/90's tour group, but if not, we'll have to do w/ this for now.. As far as the Scorpions, it's been the same tour since "World Wide Live", in 85', but you gotta give them credit, ( for giving the fan's what they want to hear, and going on their 30th.Anniversary Tour, (they've made enough money/ paid their dues), it's time to hang it up...."Definite Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Status", no doubt?..!~!!..G-...

Thanks for the review Vinny! I'm gearing up for the show here in LA on Saturday night.

What a shame to hear about Dokken! First they lost Lynch, then Pilson, now Don's voice is detoriating...I guess it all happened about the same time..But anyway, your'e right: It is about time they gave it up. I saw their renunion show in 1994 in Redondo Beach, and they were hot. Every show after that, however, has been disappointing.

Its good to hear that David Coverdale still has it! I'm a huge fan of his. I think the lineup he has put together this time is incredible. Although I would have liked it were Rudy Sarzo and John Sykes,Marco Mendoza kicks some butt on bass, and Doug Alridch is killer on guitar.

    I can't wait until Saturday!

Opening bands never get the best sound and half the crowd hadn't even shown up yet. I felt silly being the only person standing (row 11) and rocking out while everyone else had their butt planted in their seats.

Don Dokken has never been the type to run around crazy on stage. When you only have a 40 minute set, there isn't much you can do besides get to the next song. When Dokken headlines the small clubs, they've been great. When they do these opening sets, it's dissapointing.

In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing Lynch Mob next month at the Edge...I mean Icon...no wait, The Edge

Saw the bill herre in MN the other nite. I was reminded that I used to love Dokken on record but when I saw them in '87 I was disappointed. Don can't hit the notes, and YES, the bass player does look like CC Deville

Not really knowing what to expect when the SNake took the stage, it was obvious from the moment 'Cov took the stage the night was going to another level. The difference here is that Coverdale and co. CARED and it showed and sounded like it! I would of preferred Adrian Vandenberg (or John Sykes!) in the current line-up but Aldridch and Beach got the job done nicely!

I had never seen the Scorps before and they were quite good...lost a lot of the crowd with some really old, pre"Blackout" material but all in all, it was cool to see Schenker and Jabs trading licks. Though to this day the end of the chorus in "Bad Boys Running Wild" sounds like Meine is singing "...get out of my wheee, wheeee, wheee..." The Teutonic accent is still in full effect!

I hear alot of bad comments about Dokken. Has he really gotten that bad ? You commented about seeing them in 1987. I saw them for my first time in 87 opening for Aerosmith and they were awesome. Don had no problem hitting the notes back then.

I saw the same Tour also FordWheeler and the sounded good here.I have a very good VHS of that same 87 Tour.It was recorded to be released but was scrapped. The guy I bought it from was kicked off of ebay right after I bought mine.

I have it on another VHS also with a Pat Travers show.

That was right before the Monsters Of Rock Tour and they really fell apart during that.
