Open Mic Nite

Ya'll ever go to these?? I've been going to a couple around town trying to find some like minded players.
Wednesday nite at one some friends of mine host, some guys from the Navy school of music showed up with sax, trumpet and harmonica....
Dudes it was the bomb!!!! We played "Call me the Breeze" by Skynyrd and it was like I'd never played with such a full sound...and everybody was pretty much on. My freakin richard got hard as a diamond jackhammer.
Did some old R&B stuff...like Blues Bros...
The biggest plus was that I got to jam with some of my old time buds that just happened to show up that nite....we haven't played a tune together for many years.

They are a lot of fun. Only thing is there aren't a whole lot of drummers that show up, so the two or three or us that do, we have a blast since we get to play a lot.

The other down side is that here in Lincoln, there are only a couple of places that do this and it is usually the same people that show up, which isn't all that bad. Jamming is rarely a bad thing. smile.gif
