Nope. This first pic is his cherished, tattered, and famous, Les Paul. The second is his new "Les Paul" just completed for him by George Bisceglia (see posts by forum member gbisceg for all the details) that Dave broke out at the November '05 Mystic shows. Look also for the thread "new hand made les paul almost ready" started by Dave last summer.

I may be seeing things, but there looks to be a "Moon and Star" in the first fret of Dave's new LP. How cool!

Is this symbolic of Dave and Jill perhaps?

The crescent moon & star is a symbol of Islam...but I doubt if that means Dave is a Terrorist. :D
Altho'...a few of the songs on In Rock We Trust do seem to indicate an anti-political stance. heh
Here's a link that explains how this symbol pre-dates the Islam faith:
http://islam.about.com/library/weekly/aa060401a.htm
This quote from the above link is interesting in light of the fact that Dave is Italian:
"According to some reports....it (the crescent moon & star) dates back to a battle in which the Romans defeated the Goths on the first day of the lunar month"
So...Maybe havin' this on his new guitar is to inspire this Italiano boy to kick ass on all the Goths in the music biz today. :guitarist

More than likely it is about Dave's love of astronomy. Astronomy is on his list of Interests in his Profile.
When the moon passes in front of a large star or planet, it's called occultation....as described here:
www.space.com/spacewatch/051223_night_sky.html
Here's anuzza link from space.com explaining that Venus is the brightest star, the Morning Star:
www.space.com/spacewatch/Venus_morning_021122.html
Personally, I don't know much about astronomy. The last two links are old, but this 2006 one explains about the various planets:
www.space.com/spacewatch/051230_night_sky.html

I'm not sure what star I'm lookin' at near the crescent moon in the pre-dawn skies lately, but it sure is a mighty purty sight.

Terr, thank you, I think.

I knew Dave had/has a passion for Astronomy (hence his nickname "Moon"). As far as your other thoughts on the matter....I will just leave that alone.

On the lighter side of things, from a distance it (Moon & Star) almost looks like PacMan getting ready to chomp down on a dot :)

Daves Favorite axe!...?? Well some people call it a kaiser blade! I call it a sling blade! Sorta what the highway boys use to chop down weeds and what not along side the highway! it's got a long wooden handle! with a blade shaped sorta like a bannaner! sharp on one end, dull on the other! Oops! sorry that's not an axe! Next Question!

That is an impressive guitar...
I haven't seen it much in the photos people have been posting...does Dave have any criteria of when to use it? bigger clubs? It really is striking...

I'll be using it a lot tonight. I was waiting to have a few last minute neck adjustments done. Now it's done and ready to go.
