Street Team Here are 10 things YOU can do to help increase the
visibility of both bands: Meniketti and Y&T. 1. WORD OF MOUTH a) Tell all of your friends, coworkers, and relatives about Meniketti and Y&T, the CDs, the shows, the web site and the discussion forum. b) Post in other newsgroups about Meniketti and Y&T and include the URL to this web site for easy access to those interested. c) Buy Meniketti and Y&T CDs for friends and family. They make great gifts! d) Bring friends and family to Meniketti and Y&T shows.
e) Check the Meniketti.com web site for possible PDF versions of flyers for
shows in your area. At times, there will be show flyers posted that you can
print from your own computer to post around town and hand out to others. There
is always a flyer available to promote the web site.
2. WHEN AT OTHER CONCERTS IN YOUR AREA a) Hand out our flyers for upcoming Meniketti and Y&T shows in your area or close to your area, or ask the venue where Meniketti or Y&T will be playing to give you some of their flyers for the upcoming Meniketti or Y&T show so you can hand them out and even post around town. b) Talk to other fans at the show and mention Meniketti and Y&T, the CDs, upcoming shows, direct them to the Meniketti.com or YandTRocks.com web site (same web site), even hand out slips of paper with the URL (be sure to spell it right!)
3. CALL LOCAL MEDIA Contact local newspapers, TV shows, and magazines and ask them if they could do an article on one of your favorite artists—Dave Meniketti and Y&T. This often works best if more than one person calls the press about the same subject.
4. MENIKETTI/Y&T IN CONCERT IN YOUR AREA Call venues in your area and ask them to bring Meniketti and Y&Tto your town. If you get a bite, send an email to
with the words “GIG OPPORTUNITY” in the subject field and be sure to include the venue name, address, phone, web site, email and the name of the person at the venue who does the booking; we’ll then forward the information to the band's management and booking agency.
5. RETAIL Call and/or go into your local record stores and ask for Meniketti and Y&T CDs. With enough demand, retailers will carry them. We know of an independent musician who scored a choice radio interview in Canada and she intentionally lied in the interview saying her CD was available at a major Canadian record retailer. The retailer was flooded with calls for her CD and she ended up getting a huge order plus an “in” with a major retail chain. We do not promote lying, but you can see by this story how numbers make a difference. Have your family, friends and coworkers call, too!
6. NATIONAL MEDIA Contact national music magazines, morning shows, late night shows, talk shows, etc. Numbers work here, too, so send emails, faxes, letters, and call. News has to be newsworthy, though, so be prepared to pitch a good story to the media.
7. RADIO If you are fortunate enough to have a radio station in your area that is not pre-programmed and they do still take requests, then you'll want to email, fax, call them and ask them to play Meniketti. If you know of any stations outside your area, help your fellow fans out and email those stations, too. If you’ve talked to a Program Director or DJ who is seriously interested in playing a Meniketti or Y&T CD, send us an email with “RADIO STATION REQUEST” in the subject field and be sure to include the radio station name, address, phone, web site, email and the name of the person at the station to whom you spoke, and we’ll contact them about airplay. Tell the radio station you’ll make them a deal—tell them you’ll buy something from one of their advertisers if they play Meniketti and Y&T, and in turn you’ll tell the advertiser you heard their ad on XXXX radio. Tell the radio station that if they play Meniketti and Y&T twice a day you will have a friend buy something from one of their advertisers and your friend will let the advertiser know which station they heard the ad on. If they play Meniketti and Y&T three times, it will be you and 2 of your friends, and so on.
8. FLY THE COLORS Wear your Meniketti and Y&T tee-shirts proudly! We’ve had many fans share their experiences of wearing a Meniketti tee in a public place and having people come up to them asking about it. One fan told us he was a big hit at a Rush concert when he wore his Meniketti logo tee with the signature Les Paul; he was amazed at the great response from other concertgoers and he was happy to help spread the word.
9. SHARE YOUR SUCCESS STORIES Many of you already do this, but please continue to share your success stories on the forum. Like the Rush concert experience mentioned above, you’re sure to have someone ask you about that music blasting from your stereo, that Meniketti sticker in your car window, or that cool Meniketti tee-shirt or Y&T shirt. It’s fun to read everyone’s experiences on the forum!
10. BE CREATIVE And, have fun while supporting Meniketti and Y&T and helping to spread the word!
